SHUTTERS DOWN
Close on the heels of a Supreme Court directive to relocate Delhi's most polluting industries comes a Gujarat High Court judgement ordering the closure of 70 industries in the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation Vapi industrial estate.
Delivered on April 18, the order gave the industries 48 hours to comply. Water and power were cut off to the concerned industries, which were found to have committed a breach of the provisions and rules of the Water Ad, the Air Act and the Environment Protection Act.
