SHUTTERS DOWN
It could be the death knell for 20 hotels and a shrimp processing unit in Orissa if they do not take immediate mea- sures to stop polluting the sea by the end of this year. The Orissa Pollution Control Board decided to close down the hotels following a Supreme Court order. They have been discharging untreated effluents including sewage into the sea. Six of the hotels were found to be polluting the beach and the sea directly by discharging untreated wastes. The other hotels were causing indirect pollution.
