TIME TO WIND UP
The Himachal Pradesh Pollution Control Board has ordered closure of four chlorinated parafin wax manufacturing units located at Taliwal in Una district which were releasing higher than permissible levels of chlorine gas into the atmosphere. An inspection team had detected the leakage of chlorine gas. The managements of these units have been directed to carry out proper maintenance of the plants to check further leakage of the gas.
Meanwhile, the board has decided to set up waste dumping facilities near Baddi in Solan and Barhal in Sirmaur district for the scientific disposal of hazardous waste.
