Power game
FOR the first time in India, pre-engineered packages for liquid fuel power have been developed by Ansaldo Services Pvt Ltd, Bangalore. These plants, available in pre-specified ratings of 50 mw and 100 mW, are targetted at industrial clients, while others ranging from six mw to 20 mw have been designed for biomass plants in rural areas with liquid fuel options. "These plants will meet th6-immediate power needs of a whole lot of industrial clients," said K Krishnan, Ansaldo's managing director.
Based en the concept of a single shaft, these factory-assembled and tested kits boast of a life span extending upto 20 years. The high efficiency gas turbines offer a compact solution with cost benefits upto 10 per cent lower than larger plants on a per-kw basis. Ansaldo's strategy is to hook companies firlding it increasingly difficult to wait for the large power plants to come up and to enjoy monopoly in these specialised markets.
