Employing polymer technology

  • 14/04/2001

The Bhoruka Charitable Trust of Rajgarh in Churu district, Rajasthan, is employing polymer technology to increase runoff into artificial wells called kundis. This shows how modern scientific developments can actually add strength to traditional methods of water harvesting. In association with the National Geophysical Research Institute of Hyderabad and some other scientific institutions, water-based non-toxic polymer solutions are used to increase runoff to the wells. The polymers act as binders and reduce permeability and infiltration rate of sandy soil.
