ACTION TAKEN REPORT
Courts in Delhi seem to be the only state institution fighting the menace of pollution. Now, the Delhi High Court, under a two-judge bench headed by acting chief justice Devinder Gupta, has directed the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to place before it a report of action taken by various authorities to make the Yamuna waters fit for drinking. The river is the main source for drinking water in the capital. The court was responding to a public interest writ petition which sought provision of safe drinking water in Delhi from the Central government. The petitioner, B L Wadhera, an advocate quoting previous CPCB reports, had stated that Yamuna water was unfit for drinking
