Garbage in the city of Colombo in Sri Lanka will soon have the private sector taking care of its disposal. Under a new scheme, the collection of garbage would become privatised, according to K Ganeshalingam, the acting mayor of the city. The garbage collectors would be paid on a monthly basis according to the weight of the waste collected. ibis would encourage the workers to work harder and present the city with a cleaner look. The scheme is Likely to become operational in April.
