DEADLY NUMBERS
Nepal has more than 5,200 AIDS patients and there may be between 5,000 to 10,000 HIV-positive cases. According to medical experts, by the end of the century, the country may have 22,000 to 50,000 HIV-infected cases and nearly 9,000 AIDS patients. But the World Health Organization puts the present number of AIDS cases at as high as 10,000 which may go up to 1,00,000 in five years. As many as 2,00,000 HIV-infected Nepali prostitutes are engaged in the flesh trade in different cities of India.
