Pegged at Rs 637 crore, the second phase of the Yamuna Action Plan (yap-ii) has been approved after discussions between the Union ministry of environment and forests (mef) and Japan Bank of International Cooperation (jbic).
This was announced in parliament by Union minister for environment and forests T R Baalu. jbic, the donor agency, has, however, not confirmed the funding yet. Kotaro Tanaka, jbic representative in India, said: "We have finished the appraisal but it will take some time before our government finalises the project. It should be within this fiscal year.'
