Action Sought
The Madras high court asked the Chennai Corporation and Metrowater to take immediate action on a representation made for repairing the dug up portions of Ponni Colony at Anna Nagar. The court gave this direction while disposing a writ petition from a resident of the area. According to the petitioner, the latter dug many roads in the colony for laying new pipelines or repairing the existing ones.
This is causing hardship for the local residents. The petitioner added that though they found it difficult and unsafe to use the roads, they had not made a complaint since they thought that the roads would be repaired after the work was completed. However, the work was completed five weeks ago, but neither the civic body nor Metrowater had taken steps to even out the dug up sections or repair the roads.
