Impact of privatisation in municipal corporations and possible changes/shifts observed in the labour conditions
Privatization of solid waste management (SWM) services has been a debated topic and has come under greater focus in recent times. This has been because of various developments such as the Supreme Court order of 2004, directing all metros to set up scientific landfills, and the funding model available under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for SWM projects in selected cities.
