Framing farmers: the case of GM crops and transnational activist networks in India
This paper analyzes a period of contention about Genetically Modified (GM) crops, specifically BT cotton, in India over the last six years. In this paper aim to further understanding of the role of transnational activist networks (TANs) in helping to construct new forms of interest representation in the developing world. Specifically argue that we should be alert to the interests that are helped or hindered by these networks and how styles of discourse come to predominate that may be harmful to the interests of farmers.
