Madhukar Jhunge of Nimgaon village in Wardha planted cotton on 1.6 ha of his 2.8 ha. The lalya attack halved his yield. To be able to celebrate Diwali, he sold 400 kg of cotton at Rs 2,600 per 100 kg in late October. His hopes of making up for the loss by selling the rest at MSP of Rs 3,000 per 100 kg were dashed when his 900 kg Bt cotton was priced at Rs 2,850 by a CCI grader.
