Enhancing financial services flow to small scale marine fisheries sector
This study is to understand the financial services sector with regard to low-income fisherfolk, especially, in a comparative analysis framework in the post tsunami context, with the following objectives: to understand the extent to which men and women in fisheries are excluded from the mainstream financial system; to identify their various needs for financial services across pre-harvest, harvest and post harvest fisheries; to understand supply side perceptions and constraints; to propose practical measures and recommendations by which a wide range of financial services can be delivered to low income fisherfolk, and to explore the above, in the Tsunami affected contexts of Tamilnadu and Kerala.
