Commercial whaling
japan has sought opening up of the country's Southern Ocean Whale sanctuary as part of its campaign to resume commercial whaling on open seas. The move is expected to appear in the provisional agenda of the International Whaling Commission's meeting that is to be held in May on the Caribbean island of Grenada.
