smart delivery: UV light radiation can now be used to control drug delivery in the body. A new method applies low UV light on the affected area after the drug intake. This helps trigger the release of the drug at the spot, ensuring delivery. The drug, coated with a light sensitive chemical 3,5-Dimethoxybenzoin, will use polymer platforms. The technique, developed by scientists at the Queens University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, is said to improve the efficacy of drugs. This could help regulate overdosing of drugs and their side effects.
