Govt lifts location curbs on industrial units
BS Reporters / New Delhi July 04, 2008, 0:11 IST The Union Cabinet today relaxed norms for setting up industrial units in the country, by doing away with a restrictive clause in the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951, which prohibits location of factories near urban settlements. The decision is unlikely to lead to setting up of factories near cities and towns, as the projects will still have to be cleared by the respective state pollution boards and the environment ministry.
