OBSOLETE PESTICIDES
After keeping it in the storehouse for 22 years, Pakistan's North West Frontier Province government is shipping 50 tonnes of obsolete pesticide to the United Kingdom for incineration. The countries have agreed to do so under the guardianship of the German programme, GTZ, and the Provincial Environmental Protection Agency. The pesticide, which had led to air pollution and a foul smell, was stored in 324 drums. Shanka, a British company, will incinerate the outdated pesticides. The government had purchased these pesticides in 1978 for aerial spraying and since then they have been lying in the storehouse of the government's plant protection department.
