Ban on bones

Ban on bones IN A victory for conservationists, South Korea has decided to ban domestic trade in tiger bones and rhino horns from 1995. Although a ban on their imports have been in force -- Siberian tiger bones since 1993 and rhino horns since 1984 -- the goods continue to be smuggled in. According to official estimates, around 2,000 kg of tiger bones were circulated in 1993. The new ban will put the brakes on the use of animal bones and horns as ingredients in stamina-enhancing drugs.
