END OF THE ROAD
Dilip Kumar and Laxman sit the entire day before the sealed shutter of the nickel-plating unit in Trinagar, Delhi, where they used to work. The unit is now sealed. Dilip says, "We sit here hoping the Supreme Court will reopen our unit someday. The owners say that these few days of hearing in the court are crucial. I know of no other place to go, I have worked here for years. The government has sealed our fate with this factory.' Laxman joins in saying, "The owner can restart his business elsewhere. But we are left jobless.' He acknowledges, "The factory was bound to close down one day. It was polluting. But surely the government could have informed us earlier. Does the government think our working conditions will be any better elsewhere?' Dilip laments, "I came to Delhi years ago to make a living. It is the end of the road for me, I guess.'
