Fair price shops
"Solidarity coffee" has quickly become a popular drink in and around the Bhavarian town of Aschaffenburg and around. A voluntary organisation buys raw coffee from coffee growers in Aschaffenburg's partner city Villavicencio in Columbia for more than the world market price. The coffee is then roasted in Aschaffenburg and sold in over 200 sales points - canteens, cafes and coffee shops. Apart from the incentive to the small scale coffee growers in Villavicencio, the "partnership coffee" helps to spread information about social and economic conditions in the coffee-growing areas and international trade relations, creating awareness on the links between Aschaffenburg and Columbia, between consumers and producers.
