CLIPPED WINGS
Many species of predators and crop-friendly birds have migrated from cotton fields in Pakistan due to the excessive use of pesticide. Starling, quail, dove, fruit beets, house crow, blue rock pigeon, nightingale, sparrow and woodpecker are some of the bird species that have deserted the Pakistani cotton fields. This is bad news for farmers as these birds are beneficial for the cotton crop because they kill the pests and bollworms to a great extent. According to a wildlife report, cotton growers will now have to completely depend on pesticides for eradicating pests.
