Protect agricultural land from being sold to developers
HERALD CORRESPONDENT PONDA, FEB 2 Resolving that agriculture land should be protected from being sold to real estate developers, the Kisan Sangh (Goa unit) has also demanded that mining leases should not be renewed and that new mining permissions should not be granted. The three resolutions were passed at the third conference of the Kisan Sangh (Goa unit) at Kala Mandir on Sunday.

CM: Law to ban sale of agricultural land to non-Goans soon
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Thursday reiterated that his Government would try to bring legislation in the forthcoming assembly session to ban sale of agricultural land to non-Goans. Clarify on mining leases, HC directs MoEF
HERALD REPORTER The Bombay High Court at Goa on Thursday directed the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) to file a reply clarifying whether any mine having a forest on it, and whose lease has expired, can still continue its operations without the approval of the Central Government under Forest Conservation Act (FCA).

State to refund SEZ promoters
The State government has agreed to pay the cost of the land to the three special economic zone (SEZ) promoters after the Centre denotifies the three approved SEZs. Addressing a press conference here, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said Union Minister for Commerce Kamal Nath has reiterated that the Centre would not impose SEZ on Goa if the people do not want them.

CCP may move HC on Bainguinim land transfer
HERALD REPORTER PANJIM, JAN 28 The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) is proposing to move the High Court to pre-empt moves being made to take back land handed over to it at Bainguinim for its solid waste management and treatment plant. The Mayor Tony Rodrigues said,
