Jaipur: The state government has decided to constitute a ‘rehabilitation cell’ for smooth rehabilitation of people living in slums and kacchi basti. The cell will perform under Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) with a separate staff and is expected to start functioning from June. Marred by staff shortage and pressure from several quarters to clear encroachments from government land, the government granted permission to set up a different body and approved the permission for the creation of 12 posts for the cell. The consent came after JDA requested the state government to give extra manpower for carrying the tasks of relocation.

As part of the plan, the government announced a roof top power generation scheme. The Union ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) has identified 54 places in the country to develop solar cities with three of them being in Rajasthan — Jaipur, Jodhpur and Ajmer. While proposals for preparing master plans for Jaipur and Ajmer are yet to be approved by the MNRE, the same has been cleared for Jodhpur.
JAIPUR: With increase in allocation of funds for projects running under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in the Union budget, the Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) has geared up to submit proposals for 500 new low-floor buses. Already 100 new buses have been added to the JCTSL making the total strength of low-floor buses to 400. The additional 500 new buses will boost the public transportation in Jaipur.
PUNE: The much-delayed Pune metro rail project got a funding of Rs 10.01 crore in the Union Budget on Thursday. The Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporations, that have proposed the project in association with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, have already made provisions in their respective budgets for the year 2013-14. The budgetary head, 'Pune Metro', figures in the list of projects of the urban development department for the first time this year in budget. The total funding of Rs 10.01 crore has been bifurcated into three components.

JAIPUR: Driving in to Parkota (Walled City) and parking your vehicle there will be costlier from Saturday onwards, as civic authorities will start levying premium parking fees. In all three markets of the area, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) will charge premium parking fees for both four-wheelers and two-wheelers. The civic body will implement the premium parking fees between 11 am and 9 pm in Bapu Bazaar, Johari Bazaar and Chaura Rasta. However, in the absence of a strategy to stop people from parking their vehicles in the lanes adjoining these markets, the aim of decongesting the Walled City's market areas is likely to remain unfulfilled.
JAIPUR: Targeting a revenue of more than Rs 800 crore for the financial year 2013-14 , the Jaipur Municipal Corporation ( JMC) on Monday presented the budget with a total outlay of Rs 1,015 crore. Mayor JyotiKhandelwal read out the details amid uproar and protest in hall. In the budget, Rs 444 cr has been proposed for development work in the city. The JMC will arrange Rs 363 cr while an assistance of Rs 81 cr will be asked from the state government for the development in peripheries of JMC.
Jaipur: The state government is mulling to impose fresh charges on developers for laying water pipelines in new residential colonies, housing societies and highrise buildings. The idea was proposed during a meeting of the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) and the Urban Development and Housing (UDH) on Wednesday. Keeping in view the depleting groundwater level, the government is close to revising the guidelines for water distribution. “To resolve the water supply problem in new colonies and high-rise buildings, the UDH) and PHED will prepare a preliminarily report,” said N K Khare, chief town planner of Jaipur. Revising guidelines for water distribution are also on the cards.
