Car sales in India witnessed moderate growth during July with major manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors reporting rise in their monthly numbers amid a difficult market condition.

Honda Siel to invest in Rajasthan unit
NEW DELHI, 27 JULY: Honda Siel Cars India today said it would invest Rs 250 crore in its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan for expansion of a power train facility that would be used for its upcoming small car in India. With the new investment, the company's overall investment in the Rajasthan plant will go up to Rs 1,170 crore by the end of the year.

India gets 1st hybrid car, but at fancy price
India got its first hybrid car on Wednesday with Honda rolling out a petrol-electric version of its Civic sedan. The car will be more eco-friendly and fuel efficient (for its class) than any other in the market but will remain a niche product. The reason? The Civic hybrid has come with a prohibitive price tag of Rs 21.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), twice the price of the petrol Civic, thanks to accumulated duties, including customs, of 104%. This virtually makes the country's search for green and fuel-efficient options a non-starter.
