May 27: Five children from Bholakpur and its surrounding slums are suffering from diarrohea. One case of jaundice, one heart and three kidney disorder cases have also been identified in the last two days.
Mohali: As many as 118 teams would be operating in various parts of Mohali district during a campaign being launched by the health department to create awareness among people about dengue, malaria and other water-borne diseases. These teams would be covering all villages of the district in June, which is being observed as an anti-malaria month by the department.

According to the latest daily disease surveillance report, dated May 18, released by the MCD Health department, 37 cholera-related cases and deaths were reported from the city in the first fifteen days of May.
PARLAKHEMUNDI: Soaring mercury has made life hell in Gajapati district. While the people are unable to cope with the rising heat, acute shortage of drinking water in rural areas has compounded the problem.
At least five children died of diarrhoea and another 568 have been attacked in five upazilas including Barisal City Corporation (BCC) area of the district in the last one and a half month due to severe heat. According to an official source, of the total, 395 children have been attacked in the month of April while 173 children within 15 of the current month here.
With a sharp rise in temperature, the complaints of diarrhoea have been reported from different villages in the district. More than 250 patients of diarrhoea have so far been reported to local nursing homes or private hospitals.
Hamirpur: Residents of Bari village under the Pharnol panchayat, where 124 persons had developed symptoms of diarrhoea on Monday, have said that there might be residues of some dead animal or bird in the bowli water that led to its contamination.
Although there were less incidences of diarrhea in the city for last few days, the number of patients is likely to increase gradually over the next few days due to use of contaminated water, physicians at the ICDDR'B apprehended yesterday.
