DH News Service,Mysore: To check the growing wild elephant-human conflicts, In-charge Deputy Conservator of Forests Yatish Kumar mooted a plan on the lines of South Africa to prevent wild elephants straying into human habitat in Mysore and Chamarajanagar districts. Tusker fear in district
Tirupati, Nov. 26: Several villages continue to be in the grip of fear as the herd of 13 elephants that damaged standing crop in Bangarupalem mandal in Chittoor district have not left the area. Officials of the forest and revenue departments stood guard at the villages only till late in the evening on Tuesday.

K. Raju PALANI: A herd of wild elephants has damaged standing crops in the lower Palani hills. Coconut, guava, banana and sugarcane crops in several acres have been destroyed in the past 10 days. All efforts, including crude methods adopted by local people, to drive away the elephants have gone in vein.

Elephants on the rise again in Tripura
Agartala, Nov 5: The Tripura Government has decided to set-up an elephant reserve in the State to preserve the animal which had nearly disappeared due to large-scale poaching and migration to neighbouring Bangladesh. The latest census has shown that the population of the elephant has gone up from 38 in 2002, when the last census was taken, to 59 now, the State Board for Wild Life said.
