Compliance report on behalf of state of Uttar Pradesh in pursuance of NGT order, September 7, 2021 in the matter of Meera Shukla Vs Municipal Corporation, Gorakhpur.
The matter related to remedial action on the contamination of water bodies and groundwater, specially Ramgarh lake, Ami river, Rapti river and Rohini river in and around district Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
For the treatment of sewage, establishment of STP in Nagar Palika Parishad, Khalilabad and Nagar Panchayat, Maghar - bio-remediation of 3 drains is being done. There are 55 water polluting industries in GIDA and ETPs have been installed in all of them. 52 industries are compliant and 9 non-compliant. Further, regular monitoring of industries in GIDA is being done by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board. 6 major drains falling into the Ramgarh Tal have been tapped and being treated.
