Compliance of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order of November 27, 2020  in Original Application No. 168/2013 in the matter of Karan Singh Vs State of Himachal Pradesh & Others. The matter related to the solid waste dumping site at Salogra, Solan district.

The site was jointly inspected by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Solan, Senior Environmental Engineer, HPSPCB and Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Solan.

The Municipal Corporation, Solan had floated a tender to increase the number of composting batteries from 20 to 40. The work of construction of these additional 20 composting batteries would be completed in three months. The site plan for segregation of unsegregated waste has been finalized and an estimate of Rs. 4,76,174 has been prepared for development and construction of the pucca shed for segregation of unsegregated waste.

The Municipal Corporation, Solan has started the collection of segregated dry and wet waste on alternating days to avoid the mixing of dry and wet waste. Also, ragpickers under contractor have been engaged on site for segregation of bottles, iron, cardboard and others. Recycling of plastic material/RDF was being done by transporting the same to the Ambuja Cement Plant since October 2019.
