Action taken report by the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board for compliance of the National Green Tribunal order of July 17, 2020 in Original Application No. 809/2018 in the matter of Anwar Hussain Ansari, Jhamumo Alpsankhyak Morcha Vs State of Jharkhand.

The matter related to industrial pollution by M/s Grasim Industries Limited, Chemical Division at Mauza-Rehla, district Palamau. A Joint Inspection Committee constituted to look into the matter had recommended that the unit must ensure that no domestic wastewater is discharged into Bhelwa river without proper treatment. The industrial unit in response has installed 3 sewage treatment plants (STP) each of 100 KLD.

The abandoned calcium hypo lagoon of area 5500 square metres has been capped in a scientific manner - this would make sure that no untreated /partially treated effluent and seepage/run-off from the calcium hypo chlorite lagoon/dump sites are discharged into Chhaliya drain. Pumping system for leachate of the lagoon has been installed and leachate of the lagoon is being sent to ETP for treatment.
