Report on Jaypee Nigrie Super Thermal Power Plant (JNSTPP), Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, 05/11/2020

  • 05/11/2020

Report of Jaypee Nigrie Super Thermal Power Plant (JNSTPP), Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. There is a 100% ash water recovery system (AWRS) in JNSTPP and electrostatic precipitators (ESP) are functional.

The continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMs) were installed at stack, continuous ambient air quality monitoring system (CAAQMS) stations have been linked with CPCB and Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board server. The ash dyke has been constructed with upstream and downstream slopes. The ash pond is built over an area of 21.2 hectare and equipped with 100% ash water recirculation facility to prevent any ash mixed water discharge to outside.

Jaypee Nigrie Super Thermal Power Plant is being operational under zero discharge condition. The ETP and STP are fully functional. There is no discharge of effluent in Rihand reservoir nor in any other river. Further, efforts have been made to utilize/dispatch 100% "currently generated fly ash and disposal of stocked fly ash", according to the JNSTPP report. The thermal power plant has approached the District Mines Department for allocation of abandoned mines in Hardi, Paudi, Barseid stone quarries. Permission is awaited.

The report said that the thermal power plant is a super critical technology based plant, having higher efficiency, thereby consuming less coal and produces proportionately less CO2, CO, NOx, SO2 and other pollutants. Ash Utilization in 2018 – 19 was 88.62% & in 2019 – 20 was 109.57%.
