Brick production is one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases (GHG) and short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) in Bangladesh. The informal brick sector is the main contributor of this pollution. This document reviews the existing status of the brick sector in Bangladesh and proposes specific recommendations/actions to reduce pollution from the sector. It also outlines a roadmap to transition informal brick production to energy efficient manufacturing. The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) finances a global initiative on short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) mitigation. Its mandate is to address SLCPs by raising awareness, enhancing and developing new national and regional actions, promoting best practices, and improving the scientific understanding of SLCP impacts and mitigation strategies.
