Order of the Supreme Court of India regarding illegal mining in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, 04/11/2019
Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of In Re: T. N. Godavarman Thirumulpad Vs Union of India & Others dated 04/11/2019 regarding illegal mining in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Amicus Curiae informed the SC that under the guise of lifting the excavated minerals, mining has been carried on.
The Court had already stopped the activity of mining. The SC now also stopped the lifting of the excavated minerals, lying on the spot. The Deputy Conservator of Forests of the area and the Deputy Director, Directorate of Geology and Mining Work, Government of Maharashtra, Kolhapur would be held responsible in case of any violation of the court's order.
