Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Manikesh Chaturvedi Vs International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) & Others dated 17/05/2019 regarding environmental clearance for the construction of Sri Vrindavan Chandra Mandir at Vrindavan.

Report submitted by the CPCB points to deficiencies in rain water harvesting, operation of DG sets, compliance of the Construction and Demolition Waste Management Rules, 2016 and extraction of ground water. The Tribunal required the CPCB to oversee the compliance and also recover compensation for the noncompliance. The MoEF&CC was also required to furnish a report about the monitoring mechanism of the compliance of conditions for Environment Clearance. Reports of the CPCB as well as the MoEF&CC have been submitted but the tribunal finds it incomplete.

The NGT directs constitution of a joint Committee comprising representatives of the MoEF&CC, CPCB and CGWA. The CPCB will be the nodal agency for compliance and coordination of the joint Committee and a report has to be submitted by the CPCB within one month.
