National Review of Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, Nepal joined other members of the United Nations in adopting the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that follow the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as the international development targets. This review, prepared by the National Planning Commission through a consultative process based on Nepal’s SDGs baseline report, provides an update on the status of SDG mainstreaming and implementation in the country. Starting by summarizing the progress made and lessons gleaned from the roll-out of the MDGs, along with identifying unfinished agendas, the report delves into the enabling environment, institutional mechanism and systems, so as to generate evidences of the periodic achievements, challenges ahead, progress and preparation for effective implementation of SDG-friendly interventions in Nepal.
