Technology and the UNFCCC: building the foundation for sustainable development
A new publication by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) highlights the 20 year history that technology development and transfer has played in the global fight against climate change. Technologies, such as renewable energy, energy efficient technologies or technologies that help people cope with a changed climate, play a critical role in the fight against climate change. The publication highlights how this critical role has been taken forward under the UNFCCC. This includes work on technology through the consultative process, technology transfer framework, technology needs assessments, and the Technology Mechanism. It also describes the key role of climate technology financing.
