Common EIA report for Cheyyur Ultra Mega Power Plant, Tamil Nadu

As per EIA notification issued by Ministry of Environment and Forests in September 14, 2006, the proposed thermal power project comes under category `A’. For such projects, it is mandatory for the project proponent to get approval for Terms of Reference from Ministry of Environment and Forests, (MOEF), Government of India. For Captive Port, it is required to conduct EIA studies for the Port development proposals as per the requirements of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification (dated 14th September 2006) and the CRZ Notification dated 19th February 1991 and January 6, 2011 of the Ministry of Environmental and Forests (MoEF). For the Main Plant, MOEF has issued the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Studies on March 19, 2009 and for the Captive Port on February 1, 2010. The EIA study for the proposed thermal power project has been conducted by M/s WAPCOS Limited, a Government of India Undertaking in the Ministry of Water Resources (MOWR) and for the Captive Port, M/s National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) was appointed for conducting the EIA studies.
