Judgement of the Supreme Court of India on environmental clearance for hydroelectric projects in the state of Uttarakhand dated 13/08/2013

Expressing concern over the proliferation of hydrolectric projects and their impact on the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers, the SC has directed the environment ministry to not grant any environmental clearances to the hydro-electric projects in Uttarakhand.

Judgement of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Alaknanda Hydro Power Co. Ltd. Vs Anuj Joshi & Others dated 13/08/2013 directing the MoEF as well as state of Uttarakhand not to grant any further environmental clearance or forest clearance for any hydroelectric power project in the state of Uttarakhand until further orders.
