BLUEPRINT FOR SIKRI
The Supreme Court has given eight weeks' time to the Union government to prepare the necessary plan for making Fatehpur Sikri, the capital of the Mughal empire for some time and now in Uttar Pradesh, a national heritage city for its better preservation.
Acting on a petition seeking rehabilitation of shopkeepers in the vicinity of the historic monument, the court has directed the solicitor general to consult the Union ministers of urban development and culture, Uttar Pradesh government, Wakf boards and the Archaeological Survey of India in drafting the plan for developing Fatehpur Sikri as a heritage city.
