CLOSE POLLUTING INDUSTRIES
The Supreme Court has admonished the Delhi government for its inability to close polluting industrial units operating in the residential areas of the city. The court has now asked the Union ministry of urban development to take action against these units. The court directed the ministry to form a nodal cell, which will prepare a comprehensive list of all the polluting industrial units located in different residential areas. The court stated that instead of taking substantial measures against these polluting industrial units, the Delhi government had requested the ministry to let the less polluting units operate in the residential areas. Apart from this, it also made several changes in the Master Plan of Delhi putting the entire concept of planning in jeopardy.
