Ready for Y2K

With less than a month left for the beginning of the millennium, organisations and individuals have been rushing to get their computers Y2K (year 2000) compliant. The fertiliser industry is no exception. But according to a Fertiliser Association of India statement, by and large, all the fertiliser plants have achieved Y2K compliance. The industry intends to keep the plants operating on December 31 and January 1 and "hopefully the measures undertaken by them should ensure a smooth transition into the 21st century'. A contingency action plan is also being drawn up by fertiliser units should any snag develop in the system during the change over.
