Forest fire hits Canada

Huge forest fires played havoc in Australia at the beginning of this year. This time they have struck again -- in western Canada. About 2,430 ha of the fruit-growing belt of British Columbia has turned into a gigantic inferno and thousands of people living in the surrounding countryside are abandoning their homes and rushing into the towns in panic. Firefighters are convinced that the fire was started by human beings and not by natural agents like lightning but are not sure whether it was done deliberately or was caused by sparks from a camp fire.
