Smokeless!

Smokeless! it is an example that many industries in India will find hard to emulate. The successful run of a power plant in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, has proved that commitment of employees and their wholehearted approach towards building a green environment can even make an 50-year old coal-based power plant run without polluting the environment.

"The machines were bought as scarp material when the plant was set up. But careful coordination and regular maintenance has led to a complete synchronisation of the whole system. The plant supplies power to the jk cement plant situated in Nimbahera, 20 km from the plant,' says says A B Singh, vice-president of jk power plant, situated in Bamania village, around 12 km from Chittorgarh.

A visit to the plant, covering around 20 hectares, can change how people generally view a coal-based power plant
