Gandhinagar: The Reserve Bank of India in its latest report, ‘State Finances: A Study of Budgets of 2011-12’, has identified Gujarat as one of the states where power sector reforms, despite being initiated early, have failed to create the “desired impact” on the financial position of the state power utilities (SPUs). After increasing prices of its passenger cars following hike in excise duty in the Union Budget 2012-13, Tata Motors, on Thursday, said its entire range of commercial vehicles have also become dearer by up to Rs.60,000. “We have hiked the prices of our commercial vehicles by 2-5 per cent considering hikes in excise duty on vehicles and chassis. This has been done with effect from March 17 (2012),” Tata Motors President (Commercial Vehicle Business Unit) Ravi Pisharody told journalists at the Defence Expo here.
